New Delhi: Delhi's Tis Hazari Court has sent Vibhav Kumar to judicial custody for 14 days in connection with the Swati Maliwal case. Vibhav Kumar, who was arrested by Delhi Police on May 18, had been in police custody before this decision. On May 28, the court had previously extended his police custody by three days, though the police had requested five days.

Vibhav Kumar's appeal for relief was also denied by the Delhi High Court. On Friday, the High Court transferred his petition to the MP-MLA Court, where it could be heard by Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma. Vibhav Kumar's petition challenged his arrest, claiming he was forcibly kept in custody and seeking compensation and a departmental inquiry against the police officers involved.

During a recent hearing, Delhi Police's lawyer, Atul Shrivastava, argued that the Chief Minister's residence is highly secure, questioning why no call to emergency number 112 was made if something had occurred there. He also mentioned that people still contact Vibhav despite his removal from his position, implying Swati Maliwal did the same.

The police informed the court that on the incident day, only Swati Maliwal had called 112, and no one else from the Chief Minister's residence made any call. They highlighted Swati Maliwal's significant roles as a current member of Parliament and former chairperson of the Delhi Women's Commission, questioning whether Vibhav's permission was necessary for her to meet the party chief.
