Bhubaneswar: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will be visiting Odisha on 27 December. Naidu will inaugurate the BPCL LPG bottling plant to be built in Balangir, Odisha. Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be present at the inauguration ceremony. To facilitate gas distribution, the plant has been constructed by BPCL at a cost of Rs 103 crore. The plant will be able to fill 42 lakh cylinders annually.

It is noteworthy that Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid the foundation stone of this plant on 11 May 2018. This plant has been completed in just 19 months before the scheduled time, which is a record in itself. This plant will provide cylinders to 14 districts of West Odisha. After the commissioning of this bottling plant, there will be five plants in the state. At present, LPG bottling plants are operational in Khurda, Jatani, Baleshwar and Jharsuguda.

In addition, the oil companies have decided to set up two more new LPG bottling plants in Odisha in the coming days. After this, the state will have 4.06 crore LPG cylinder bottling facilities annually, currently the annual 2.96 crore LPG cylinder bottling is being done through 4 plants in the state. Statistics show that at present 88 lakh 10 thousand LPG consumers are registered in the state. In view of the ever increasing number of consumers, it has been decided to set up new Bortling Plant.
