New Delhi: Left-wing parties retained their positions in the student union elections held at Jawaharlal Nehru University, one of the most recognized universities in the country. Aishe Ghosh will now be the new president of the JNU Students' Union. Apart from this, Saket Moon Vice President of Left, Satish Yadav General Secretary and MD Danish Joint Secretary from Left managed to win the seats.

The Left was successful in winning all the four seats, while ABVP, NSUI, Bapsa and RJD have been wiped out. Manish Jangid 1128 of ABVP, who contested for the post of president, Jitendra Suna 1122 from Bapsa, Prashant Kumar 761 from NSUI, Priyanka Bharti 156 from RJD and Raghavendra Mishra alias Yogi who landed in Nirdali Maidar got only 53 votes. However, it is the High Court. Please note that Jawaharlal Nehru University came in quite a lot of headlines after the Modi government came. It has emerged as an important centre opposing the government's policies. The left parties have been influential here since the beginning. Due to the anti-country slogans, the university was very much in news.
