A shocking incident comes to light where a Chinese food vlogger ate Shark. Not only this she has been fined 125,000 yuan (1500000 in Indian rupees) for cooking and eating a shark as eating Shark in considered illegal. As per the information the vlogger from Nanchong city in Southwest China’s Sichuan Province. She had bought the meat online at 7,700 yuan on April 13 last year before cooking and eating it while posing for photographs on May 29 and June 2. A Chinese food blogger who sparked fury after cooking and eating an endangered great white shark in a TikTok video has been slapped with a hefty fine by Chinese authorities.

The accused has been identified as Jin, the influencer, who uses the handle Tizi on social media, He went on to upload a video of the meat being boiled and barbecued on popular video platforms Kuaishou and Douyin on July 12. As soon as this video surfaced online it created an outrage among Chinese social media users who criticised her for being an attention seeker by consuming protected species.
After this based on the identification of the DNA from the tissue samples, the South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences believes that the meat consumed by Jin was  of great white shark, which is an endangered species on China’s National List of Protected Wild Animals.  The accused hasgiven administrative punishment for violating the Wildlife Protection Law by the local market watchdog in Nanchong. The person who sold Jin the meat, identified by his surname Shen and the fisherman, identified by his surname Yan, were also arrested by police in Zhangzhou city in East China’s Fujian Province.

As per the information, Consumption of the meat in China has dropped in recent videos. However, as authorities have clamped down on using animals as a food source. The protected species Great white sharks the species Tizi ate in her infamous video are classified as vulnerable to extinction by the WWF, meaning they are close to being classed as endangered. Therefore she was fined with this whopping amount.
