This was the first formal meeting between Bennett and PM Modi. Benjamin Netanyahu lost the election in June this year, after which Naftali Bennett became Israeli PM. A statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday said that the two leaders held talks on the expansion of high technology and innovation. The External Affairs Ministry also said Bennett thanked PM Modi for reviving the India-Israel friendship. He also said that Jewish and Indian civilizations are closely related.
Naftali Bennett has been an ally of former Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. He defeated Netanyahu by 60-59 votes in the Israeli Parliament Nesat in June this year and Netanyahu lost his chair 12 years later. Naftali Bennett is currently the head of a coalition.
