The spot 4 was one of main factor which was making selectors worry about the world cup 2019. The debate surrounding the number four slot in the Indian batting order for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 ended after MSK Prasad-led Indian selection panel named Vijay Shankar in the 15-member Indian team ahead of Ambati Rayudu.

Many experts and former cricketers have suggested that KL Rahul, after his brilliant show in IPL 2019, should play at the much-talked-about slot in the Indian team. Shankar has now opened up on his 2019 World Cup selection and revealed how he is preparing to play at number four.

Shankar said there is a big difference in batting at number four and lower order while adding he needs to be in good shape and play according the demand of the match. The all-rounder added that he needs to keep things simple while controlling things which are under his control.

Vihay had a cold IPL 2019 wherein he managed to score just 244 runs while picking up a solitary wicket in 15 matches of the cash-rich tournament. However, after getting the nod ahead of Ambati Rayudu due to his ‘three-dimensional’ skills, Shankar is about to live the dream in England and Wales as he is expected to play a big role in India’s hunt for the coveted trophy.

I need to be in good shape, the most important thing will be how I play according to the situation. I should be equipped to play in any condition.”
