Vikas Swarup MEA Spokesperson appointed as India’s High Commissioner to Canada

Vikas Swarup, who is currently serving as the official spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, appointed India's High Commissioner to CanadaSwarup is an officer of the Indian Foreign Service batch of 1986 and is famous for penning down the novel Q & A, adapted in a film as Slumdog Millionaire.

Swarup is at present an Additional Secretary and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). He said that he will take his new assignments shortly. And the Joint Secretary in the Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan division in MEA ‘Gopal Baglay’ will succeed him.

In April 2015, he replaced Syed Akbaruddin as the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India to head its Public Diplomacy divisions in New Delhi.
