Violet Baruah, an IPS officer, has been appointed Assam's first female IGP. On Monday, Baruah revealed on her Twitter account that she had been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Violet Baruah tweeted on Monday, "Promoted to the rank of IGP," expressing her joy at being promoted to the prestigious rank in the police department.She added, "Feeling privileged to be the first women IGP in the state of Assam."

Violet Baruah, an IPS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has worked for the Assam Police Department in a variety of capacities. Violet Baruah, an IPS officer, became the first woman DIG of Assam Police in February 2019.

Violet Baruah was awarded the President's Police Medal for meritorious service in January, on the occasion of Republic Day 2021. A brilliant student, Violent Baruah, who studied at Cotton College (now University), Baruah earlier served as as the Commandant of 9th APBn, Barhampur. In 2020, Violet Baruah was posted as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in BTAD.
