Islamabad: Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad said he was deeply hurt by the way he was treated in the dressing room. He was also dropped from the team in 2016. Shahzad claimed that his career was greatly influenced by the report submitted to the Then Coach Waqar Younis before the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The report had said that Shahzad and Umar Akmal will have to play in domestic cricket to improve their game.
Shahzad told Cricket Pakistan, "I have not seen the report myself, but a PCB official told me that the comment was made in relation to me. But I think these things should be discussed face-to-face and I am ready to take up that challenge. Then we'll see who's right and who's wrong. Let me tell you that Shahzad was compared to former Team India captain Virat Kohli. He was also called the Kohli of Pakistan. He said the remark damaged his career and he was not given an opportunity to make his point. Shahzad said that Kohli's career progressed because he got a mentor like MS Dhoni.
"I have said this before and i am saying it again that Kohli's career progressed because he had MS Dhoni, but unfortunately here in Pakistan, your people can't tolerate your success. Our senior players and former cricketers are unable to digest seeing someone succeed in the world of cricket, which is unfortunate for Pakistan cricket. '
