New Delhi:  New Delhi: The Civil Aviation Ministry witnessed a significant administrative shakeup as the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) within the Union government greenlit a series of high-profile bureaucratic appointments spanning Ministries, Departments, and key organizations.

In a pivotal move, Vumlunmang Vualnam, an esteemed IAS officer who previously held the position of Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance, has been officially designated as the new Secretary for the Ministry of Civil Aviation. This appointment comes following the retirement of Rajiv Bansal, IAS, who served as the incumbent Secretary.

Concurrently, Chanchal Kumar, IAS, previously serving as Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has been entrusted with the role of Secretary for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. This decision follows the transition of Lok Ranjan, IAS, who assumed the role of Administrative Member at the Central Administrative Tribunal. The revised arrangement deviates from the initial posting directive, redirecting Chanchal Kumar from his prior designation as Secretary for the Ministry of Civil Aviation, which was held by Shri Rajiv Bansal, IAS (NL:88) up until his recent retirement.

This comprehensive administrative overhaul encompasses the appointment of 15 distinguished IAS officers to key positions as Secretaries and Additional Secretaries across various departments and governmental entities within India.

Among the notable designations, S Krishnan, IAS, has been selected to lead the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as its Secretary. Meanwhile, Umang Narula, IAS, assumes the pivotal role of Secretary within the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Additionally, Ashish Upadhyaya, IAS, has been entrusted with the dual responsibilities of Special Secretary and Financial Advisor for the Ministry of Power.

The resolute decisions made by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet reflect a strategic effort to invigorate administrative leadership within the government, ensuring a competent and proficient cadre of officials at the helm of crucial departments and ministries.
