Kyiv: The body of one of two British voluntary aid workers reported missing in eastern Ukraine was discovered by forces from Russia's Wagner Group on Wednesday, the private military firm said in a statement.

It made no mention of the deceased man's name, but stated that documents belonging to both Britons had been discovered on his body. A photo posted alongside the statement appeared to show passports with the names of the two missing workers, Andrew Bagshaw and Christopher Parry.

Ukrainian police said on Monday that they were looking for the couple who went missing in east Ukraine, where Ukrainian and Russian forces were fighting.

"Today, one of them was discovered dead. "Both Britons' documents were discovered with him," Wagner said in a statement. It did not say where the body was discovered. According to Ukrainian police, the two left Kramatorsk for the town of Soledar on Friday morning and were reported missing on Saturday evening after contact was lost.

"We are supporting the families of two British men who have gone missing in Ukraine," a Foreign Office spokesperson said.
