Weather to change in many parts of the country, cold and rain to hit

Jammu: Western disturbances are to be seen as a cyclonic circulation over the eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. There is a cyclonic circulation over the central part of UP. A framework through the South-West Bay of Bengal seems to be moving down to the West Central Bay of Bengal at the lower levels. According to met department, the minimum temperature has dropped further in parts of Punjab, Haryana, UP, Delhi NCR, Rajasthan and Gujarat. In Andhra Pradesh and coastal Tamil Nadu, moderate rainfall occurred at one or two places with light rainfall during the last 24 hours.

Isolated parts of coastal Odisha, Rayalaseema, interior Tamil Nadu, Manipur and Andaman and Nicobar Islands received light rainfall. Moderate fog prevailed over parts of Assam, Tripura and Bihar. The minimum temperature is likely to drop further in northwest and central parts of the country between the next 24 to 48 hours. Light to moderate rainfall may occur over coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Tamil Nadu between the next 24 hours. Light rainfall is expected over coastal Odisha, Rayalaseema, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka and south-east Telangana and Lakshadweep. Moderate to dense fog is expected in some parts of eastern and northeast India.

Heavy snowfall in the mountains: The snow has covered the mountains with thick sheets due to heavy snowfall in the mountains of north India for the last 2 days. On the other hand, the winds have worsened due to western disturbances moving ahead of north India. As a result, cold winds from hilly areas to plain areas have led to cold wave conditions in the atmosphere. In North India, the temperature has started receding sharply. The day and night temperatures in MP have started declining due to the continuous cold winds from there. According to Shukla, the night temperature is expected to drop sharply as the weather remained dry for three to four days.
