MUMBAI: Maharashtra has bagged investments worth around Rs 45,900 crore on the first day of the Annual Conference of the World Economic Forum taking place in Davos, Switzerland,  said state Industries Minister Uday Samant.

This investment is expected to generat direct employment for at least 10,000 people in the state, said Samant on Monday.

"Chief Minister Eknath Shinde arrived in Davos on Monday for the World Economic Forum's international meeting, and he stopped by the Maharashtra Pavilion that had been set up there.An spectacular demonstration of the state's accomplishments will be made in the Maharashtra Pavilion, and agreements will also be struck here with significant industries "Sawant said.

"In presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the agreements were signed with various companies and through this, around 10,000 youths will get work," he said.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Shinde and Minister Uday Samant, Principal Secretary Harshdeep Kamble, MIDC CEO Vipin Sharma and other dignitaries.

 The Davos Economic Forum continues till January 20.
