Kolkata: After the death of black George Floyd, there are fierce protests against apartheid in many countries including America. The heat from the US has now reached West Bengal in India due to racism. In the primary school book, controversy has arisen over black people being described as Ugly. Here in a book of a primary school, the word U is described by the word Ugly.

Not only this, a picture of a black person has been put with this word. Parents of the children have raised objections to this. Parents say that in the book of children's letters and words, the U letter was interpreted with the word Ugly and a picture of a black person was shown, which is wrong. This case of U to Ugly has come out from East Burdwan district of West Bengal. English alphabet and words are being taught to children of pre-primary class through this book in a government-aided municipal girls high school in Burdwan district.

Sudeep Majumdar, one of the parents opposing this, said that my daughter studies in Municipal Girls High School. It is wrong that he is being taught ugly to black humans. This book should be withdrawn. If this does not happen, then inferiority of black people will be born in the minds of children. In this case, District Inspector of School Primary Education, Swapan Kumar Dutt has refused to speak in front of the camera. However, he has said that giving such education is wrong. This is not a book issued by the government. I will talk to the school and if necessary, the book will be changed.
