KOLKATA: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has said that he will "socially boycott" Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This means he will not share any public platforms or participate in any public events involving Banerjee.

Bose stated in a video message that his role as Governor will now be limited to fulfilling his constitutional duties. He expressed frustration over the state government's response to his recommendation for action against Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal. This recommendation followed issues in the investigation of a junior doctor's rape and murder at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, a case that was later handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the Calcutta High Court.

Bose criticized Goyal's handling of the case as "highly suspicious" and suggested it could be considered a form of "criminal activity" needing legal action. He also took aim at Banerjee, accusing her of failing to address the state's law and order issues and likened her to "Lady Macbeth" due to the prevalent violence in West Bengal.

The Governor emphasized that he could not ignore the growing distrust among the people and warned that the truth about the state's situation would eventually come to light, referencing a quote from Abraham Lincoln: "You can fool some people for some time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time."
