Kolkata: There is a protest all over the country regarding the Citizenship Law (CAA), but a different kind of confrontation has emerged in West Bengal. Here CM Mamata Banerjee has said that there should be a referendum on the Citizenship Amendment Act in the presence of United Nations. Now Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has called Mamata's statement unconstitutional. The governor has asked Mamta to withdraw his statement immediately.

After Mamata Banerjee's statement came, the governor tweeted, "We should never compromise with nationalism." The nation should be the first. I am confident that CM Mamta Banerjee will accept my humble request and withdraw this statement. Meanwhile, the central government has also strongly criticized Mamata's statement. Union Minister of State for Home Kishan Reddy has said that Mamta Banerjee does not know what she is saying. TMC is losing ground in West Bengal. Mamta is tense about this and she is issuing such statements.

G. Kishan Reddy has also said that there is not a single thing in the citizenship law against the Muslims of the country. The citizenship of a citizen living in the country is not endangered in any way. People should understand the law and do not get seduced by anyone. I urge people not to protest.
