The Amla or Akshaya Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of Shukla paksha of Kartik month. It is said that the Dwapur Yuga began from this day. Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born on earth in Dwapur. Not only that, but Lord Krishna also left the streets of Vrindavan-Gokul on the day of Amla Navami and left for Mathura. That is why Vrindavan Parikrama also begins on the day of Amla Navami.
