Port Blair: The G-20 meeting is underway today (November 26) at Havelock Island in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Representatives of several countries reached Port Blair on November 25 for this meeting, where they were given a grand welcome. A day before the G-20 meeting, delegations from each country visited the National Memorial Cellular Jail. Let me tell you that this is the same Kalapani jail, where the British once kept those people from whom they were threatened. In this jail, freedom fighter Veer Savarkar spent about 10 years of his life.

British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis, Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov, German Envoy Dr. P Ackerman and Australian High Commissioner to India Barry Ofarel are among the delegates who are in Delhi for the G20 meeting, the report said. Speaking to the media, MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma said, "The people of Andaman are very excited about this event, and are preparing to give a warm welcome to the delegates. As far as tourism is concerned, it will not only put our beautiful islands on the global map, but it will also start many developmental projects.'' Sharma further said "We had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold at least one meeting in Andaman. Now I'm glad to see that it happened.''
During the G-20 summit in Bali, Indonesia had given India the responsibility of leading the G-20 for the coming year. After getting this responsibility, India will lead 200 meetings in the coming year. Pm Modi had earlier said about the meeting, ''The whole world is looking at the G-20 with hope. I want to assure that India's G-20 Presidency will be inclusive, ambitious, decisive, and action-oriented.''
