WHO: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Omicron variant is spreading at an unprecedented rate. "Omicron is spreading at a rate unlike any other variant we've seen before. I must state unequivocally that vaccines alone will not save any country from this calamity. Vaccines aren't being used instead of masks, separation, ventilation, or hand hygiene. Do everything. Do it on a regular basis. Do a good job ", Ghebreyesus declared.

According to WHO Director-General Tedros A. Ghebreyesus, 77 nations have reported Omicron cases so far, but this variant is likely yet to be found in certain countries.

Ghebreyesus went on to say, there is still a significant disparity in Covid-19 vaccination rates between countries. "41 countries have yet to reach their goal of vaccinating 10% of their populations. 98 countries have yet to attain the 40 percent mark. We also notice major discrepancies within a country's population groups ", Dr. Tedros stated.
