Washington: The man who abducted and killed four members of a Sikh family in California was arrested late on Thursday (October 6). Merced County Sheriff's Office spokesman Alexandra Britton said Jesus Manuel Salgado has been arrested for kidnapping and killing four people, including the girl. Police have also released a photograph of the killer.

Salgado, 48, is accused of kidnapping and killing 8-month-old Aarohi, her parents Jasleen Kaur, and Jasdeep Singh and uncle Amandeep Singh. The sheriff's office said in a statement that the accused was held in Merced County Prison. According to reports, the incident was committed by a man named Jesus Manuel, who was found guilty of robbery on the basis of a weapon and was sentenced to 11 years in jail. The Merced County Sheriff's Office said it was not yet known why the accused kidnapped the family. It is being told that Jesus Manuel is a professional criminal. He has been convicted in several cases before. In the previous case, he was sentenced to 11 years in jail in a dacoity case in January 2007. He came out on parole in June 2015. He was released from jail in June 2018. It is being told that the accused is also accused of possessing drugs etc.

The county sheriff has said that his past record indicates that this heinous crime was committed for money. He has said that on Tuesday (October 4, 2022) morning, the Merced County Sheriff's Office received information that one of the kidnapped family's ATM cards had been used at an ATM in Atwater. The investigating officers removed the picture of the person using the ATM card from the CCTV footage. The picture was similar to that of the kidnapper obtained from the kidnapper's office. The sheriff's office team, along with other local law enforcement agencies, then went to detain the 48-year-old accused for questioning on October 4. But, there the accused tried to commit suicide. After this incident, he has been admitted to the hospital. His condition is serious.

A video of the incident also surfaced. In the video, a gunman was seen kidnapping the four men. It was seen in the video that first Jasdeep and Amandeep were taken out of the house with their hands tied. The gunman was then seen bringing out Jasleen and an 8-month-old girl. According to the post-mortem report, Jesus Manuel shot three members of a Sikh family while the girl was starved and tortured, leading to her death.
