WHO says no deaths reported from Omicron yet as Covid variant spreads

New Delhi: The new and deadly Omicron variant of coronavirus has spread to 38 countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that no death has been reported so far due to its infection. WHO said how much omicron is more contagious and how seriously sick it does and whether it will be affected by the existing vaccine or not... It may take weeks to find out.

In Canada, 15 patients infected with the Omicron variant have been found. Canada's Health Ministry has warned that infection swells back into the country. There is a need to further speed up the vaccination drive. Also, those above 50 years of age have been instructed to get booster doses. The Canadian government has made it mandatory for passengers coming from other countries to undergo corona tests at the airport. It has also banned traffic from 10 African countries including South Africa.

Covid-19 infection in children in South Africa is increasing very fast. The health ministry said it was a matter of concern amid the third wave of corona. Children under the age of 5 are getting infected with corona. People over the age of 60 are the most infected in South Africa. This is followed by children below 5 years of age. This was not seen during the first and second wave of the epidemic.
