Dehradun: The Bharatiya Janata Party has won a landslide victory in the Uttarakhand elections. Out of the total 70 assembly seats in the state, the BJP has won 48 seats, while 18 seats have gone to Congress. Four seats have been won by other parties. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has lost the Khatima assembly seat. He was defeated by Bhuvan Kapri of the Congress by 6951 votes. Overall, the BJP is going to form a government with a majority. 

After the defeat of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who will be the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand now, it is being discussed. However, BJP sources say that the Uttarakhand CM will be elected from among the MLAs. Dhan Singh Rawat and Satpal Maharaj are leading the race for the CM of Uttarakhand.

The Chaubattakhal seat has been one of the hot seats of Uttarakhand. Here, BJP candidate and cabinet minister Satpal Singh Rawat (Satpal Maharaj) has won. He defeated Kesar Singh of the Congress by 11,430 votes. Satpal Maharaj got a total of 24,927 votes while Kesar Singh got 13,497 votes. Satpal Singh Rawat was earlier in the Congress, but later he joined the BJP. Satpal Singh Rawat had won the Chaubattakhal seat in 2017 as well and became a Cabinet minister in the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttarakhand. At the same time, Dhan Singh Rawat has won from Srinagar assembly seat under Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. He defeated Ganesh Godial of the Congress by 587 votes.
