Srinagar: The Kashmir Valley has seen a surge in terror attacks on local Hindus and migrants in the last few months. Due to this, the security forces are on alert and are now in action mode. Security forces have arrested 250 overground workers (OGWs) who used to assist the terrorists and provide them with information. They have been arrested under the UAPA and the Public Security Act. Most of these accused have been lodged in jails outside Jammu and Kashmir. The action against these people started last year. By May 2021 alone, 150 people had been arrested by the administration. But their figures have increased sharply in the last five months.

In May alone, about 50 people were arrested. According to official figures, 135 people were arrested in 2020. These people are accused of helping the atkaris in the movement. Helped supply the weapons and provided them with accommodation. Let us know that OGW is called those people who live the same life as ordinary people, but remain in contact with terrorists in a secret way . Just like ordinary citizens, it is very difficult to identify them due to their job and being involved in other work. In clear terms, it is the local people of Kashmir who help the terrorists, with the help of these people, the terrorists carry out acts like target killing and hide easily. In such a situation, the overground workers become extremely dangerous. If the government is to rein in terrorist activities in the Valley, it will first have to crack down on the OGW and find out under whose trap the local Kashmiris are misleading and supporting the terrorists against their own country.

A Home Ministry official has said about their functioning that these people try not to identify the attacker. In most of the attacks, small weapons are now being used, which he hides. It is not possible for the security forces to check every person. In such a situation, it is very easy to carry these weapons. On the one hand, the security forces are engaged in an effort to stop the violence in Kashmir, while the central government is investigating who is behind these incidents.
