Kolkata: Why has the 'MGNREGA' scheme money given to Bengal been stopped? The Calcutta High Court has sought a response from the central government. The Calcutta High Court has asked the Centre and states to ensure a thorough probe into allegations of withdrawal of money from fake accounts using fake names. The order was passed by a division bench of the Calcutta High Court during the hearing of a PIL filed by Bengal regarding non-receipt of MGNREGA scheme funds to Bengal.

In fact, in the petition filed in the Calcutta High Court, it has been said that the state is to get about Rs 2700 crore under the MNREGA scheme, but the state has been deprived of these rupees by the Center. This is causing problems to people related to MNREGA work. During the hearing on the petition, the court said that the central government should accept or reject the 'action' report of the state, but something should be done. Along with this, the court has asked the central government to submit a report within 10 days. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July. Let us tell you that the Mamata Banerjee government of Bengal is constantly accusing the central government of not giving money for the MNREGA scheme. In this regard, a delegation from Bengal also went to meet Union Minister Giriraj Singh. At the same time, CM Mamata Banerjee also held a two-day sit-in protest in Kolkata over 100 days of dues.

Corruption in MNREGA, why the Centre is not giving money:

BJP state unit president Sukant Majumdar said, "He knows very well why the central government is not giving money."  This is not another government. The BJP and the Modi government have the same slogan- I will not do corruption, I will not allow corruption. He alleged that the Bengal government was not giving an account of the money spent under the MNREGA scheme. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters have been unfairly benefited from the scheme.
