PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has asserted that she would raise the flag and tricolor of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state simultaneously. She also said that as an MLA she had expressed his faith in both the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir and the integrity and sovereignty of India as both are inseparable.

The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister had last month said that she was not interested in contesting elections or holding the national flag till the constitutional changes enforced on August 5 last year were rolled back, sparking protests in Jammu. “We are the people, particularly in the Kashmir Valley, who upheld the tri-colour high over the years at the cost of thousands of our workers who were martyred,” Ms. Mufti told reporters in Srinagar at the end of her five-day visit to Jammu

Striking them without naming the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the former chief minister said, “Those moving with half pants and where their leader sits do not hoist the tricolour [at their headquarters] and they are giving us lessons on the national flag.”

She said that his father had raised the national flag at a time when she was being dismissed as a 'drain worm' and social boycott was being done. Mehbooba said, 'All of us including BJP members took an oath (in the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council) that we will keep our faith in the Constitution of Jammu & Kashmir and uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India.

First was the constitution of Jammu & Kashmir followed by the integrity and sovereignty of the country. How they can cut one finger and leave the other is not right. ' Mehbooba alleged that the people of Nagaland recently said that they do not accept the flag and constitution of this country, so why did these half pants people not rally against them.
