Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has convened an all-party meeting today to discuss the issue of Maratha and Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation in the state. CM Thackeray had also convened an all-party meeting on the issue of reservation last week. CM Uddhav Thackeray has convened an all-party meeting on Friday on the issue of Maratha reservation and OBC reservation. This meeting will take place tomorrow evening.

It may be recalled that CM Uddhav Thackeray had convened an all-party meeting on August 27 last week to discuss the issue of reservation OBC in view of the apex court's decision to cancel quotas in local body elections. The meeting then discussed that local body elections should not be held in Maharashtra unless reservation OBC is restored. All parties agreed that OBC should get a political reservation in local bodies.

CM Uddhav Thackeray had sought views from several political parties in this regard. He said it was the opinion of all that local body elections should not be held without OBC reservation. He said he would examine the suggestions and options he received at the meeting in the coming days and take a decision on the issue.
