Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman resumes his assigned duties

Jaipur: Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was captured by the Pakistan Army on February 27 and kept in captivity for nearly 60 hours has resumed his assigned duties at Suratgarh Air Force Station in Rajasthan.

According to the report, Abhinandan took over his assigned duties there on Saturday. This is not the IAF officer’s first tenure in Rajasthan as previously he had also served in Bikaner. Son of an IAF personnel, has also studied in the state when his father was posted here.However, IAF has not confirmed his posting to Suratgarh base saying that the information is confidential. IAF only confirmed that Abhinandan has been posted in Rajasthan.

According to the sources, he's been posted to Suratgarh where he has resumed duties. It's not clear if Abhinandan will resume to flying as pilots are grounded after ejection, as per IAF's protocol.

Abhinandan was captured on February 27 after his MiG 21 Bison crash landed in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) during a dogfight with the Pakistani F-16s. Abhinandan even shot down an F-16 before crash-landing in PoK. He was handed over to India on March 1 after which he was debriefed and was given sick leave.
