Lucknow: As soon as it returns to power, as promised, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has again clarified its stand of not showing any leniency regarding law and order. With the victory of Yogi Adityanath for the second time in the state, the police have started appearing in action mode. Lucknow Police on Friday (11 March 2022) arrested a criminal Monu Pandit, who was rewarded 25 thousand in an encounter. Monu was injured after being shot in the encounter.
In fact, the crime branch team of Lucknow Police was searching vehicles near Bhakhamau village under Gudamba area. Meanwhile, when the police tried to stop a young man going on a bike without a number, he started running away. After this the police chased him, then he started firing. The police also fired in retaliation, which hit his left leg and he fell off the bike. Police have recovered a pistol and live cartridges from the accused. Police said that the bike with which he was fleeing was also robbed.
According to ADCP Prachi Singh, prize dacoit Monu Pandit is a resident of Anantram Sonali located in Ajitmal of Auraiya and also lived in Kashiganj of Unnao district. In April last year, he along with four accomplices had carried out the robbery at Anjani Jewelers located in Jankipuram. He further told that Monu, along with his three accomplices, entered the shop on the pretext of taking the ring and robbed it with a pistol. During this, Piyush, the grocery shopkeeper of the protesting neighborhood, was shot and fled with gold and silver jewellery.
On receiving the complaint, the police had registered a case of attempt to murder and robbery. Inspector-in-Charge Gudamba Satish Chandra Sahu has informed that the DCP of North Zone had placed a reward of Rs 25,000 on Monu Pandit. Apart from this case, about 10 cases of robbery and attempt to murder are registered against him in Unnao, Sitapur and Auraiya districts.
