Woman in touch with Omicron infected found positive in Delhi, LNJP hospitalised

New Delhi: A woman in touch with a person who was hit by a new corona virus variant 'Omicron' (Omicron) in Rajasthan has been found infected in Delhi. He has been admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital. An official said on Friday that the woman was found positive on Thursday. She had not gone anywhere on a foreign trip. 17 people in his family have also been quarantined.

The official said the woman has been admitted to LNJP Hospital and her samples have been sent to the National Disease Control Centre for genome sequencing. It may be recalled that the first case of 'Omicron' was reported in Delhi on Sunday. The 37-year-old, who returned to Delhi from Tanzania, was found infected, while he has been fully vaccinated. Four more international passengers were admitted to Delhi's LNJP Hospital on Tuesday. LNJP Hospital has been made a special centre for treating patients infected with new variant Omicron of corona virus. Hospital medical director Suresh Kumar said a total of 30 people have been admitted till Tuesday. This included 25 infected and five suspected patients. All the passengers who came on Tuesday are Indians.

He said the first case of Omicron in Delhi was confirmed on Sunday when a 37-year-old man who returned from Tanzania was found infected in the investigation. Officials had informed that the patient is currently being treated at Lok Nayak Hospital and has minor symptoms of the disease.
