NEW DELHI : A woman, who used to get fake gang-rape FIRs lodged against people to extort money and had been running a sextortion gang, was detained in Delhi's Dwarka loocatgion, police said on Monday.

According to a senior police source, Dwarka South Police Station got a complaint from a woman alleging that she had been sexually assaulted. After hearing her account, the police filed a rape complaint under several IPC provisions.
The complainant provided a voter identification card as address verification during the investigation. She was hesitant to reveal her address, though. She was concealing her address, which raised suspicions with the police. It was discovered during a local investigation that the address she provided was incorrect.

The Election Commission confirmed the complainant's voter ID card, which was later determined to be a fake,  police  said. The driver, Krishan, and Jitender alias Bhagat, as well as Krishan Pal alias Guru, were contacted by the police in the interim. When they were questioned about the incident, inconsistencies in the woman's assertions were found.

"Examining the CDR, CAF, and whereabouts of each of the defendants as well as the complainant revealed that none of the defendants resided in Delhi and had never been to Dwarka or the scene of the incident. Even the complainant had never been to the location of the incident specified in the complaint, said the police.

When the CAF information for the complainant was examined, it was found that the mobile number she used was registered in R.K.'s name, and when she was questioned about this, she failed to provide a sufficient response. New information was discovered after a thorough examination of her CDR. She had submitted a second FIR for gang rape at PS Seemapuri under the name RK.

"She had earlier filed complaints with Seemapuri, Kundli Sonepat, and Dwarka North. A case was filed against her under sections 420, 468, and 471 of the IPC after having sufficient evidence. During the inquiry, it was discovered that the sextortion ring included many more people, including a second woman "the police officer claimed.

She was found to have a fake original Aadhar Card with different information, according to the police. According to the authorities, a manhunt has been started to find the other gang members.
