'Workers ready to strengthen country and party', says CM Baghel on Kharge

Raipur: Mallikarjun Kharge defeated Shashi Tharoor by a huge margin in the counting of votes on Wednesday. Kharge got 7,897 votes out of a total of 9,385 votes. Kharge has been declared the new president of the Congress party. Kharge has also got one-sided votes from Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted after Khade's victory and said- 'Congratulations and best wishes to Mallikarjun Kharge on being elected President of the Indian National Congress, the 'signature and institution' of the combined experience of political skill, organizational experience and parliamentary system.'

Chief Minister Bhupesh said that all of us workers are ready to strengthen the country and the party under your leadership. Chhattisgarh Congress Committee President Mohan Markam congratulated Mallikarjun Kharge on being elected the President of the All India Congress Committee. He met Kharge in New Delhi on Wednesday and conveyed his best wishes for victory. The Chief Minister congratulated former Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi for a successful presidential term. 

Let us tell you that the process of voting for the National President of Congress was completed on 17 October. In Chhattisgarh, the state headquarters of the Congress, Rajiv Bhawan, was made a polling station. 311 voters were to cast their vote in the state. 300 of them voted i.e. more than 98 percent of the people voted. All the ministers, MLAs, officials and delegates of the state Congress were involved, including CM Bhupesh Baghel. Even before voting, it was indicated that Mallikarjun Kharge is getting most of the votes from Chhattisgarh. Four leaders were made polling agents for Kharge two days before the polling.
