Australian coach Dave Whatmore of Sri Lanka's World Cup winning team was appointed as the coach and director of cricket of Baroda Ranji team on Sunday. Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) secretary Ajit Lele confirmed this. PTI had told in its report a few days ago that Watmore is going to become the coach of Baroda. He was guiding the Kerala team last season.
Watmore was also the coach of India's Under-19 team, which won the Junior World Cup title in Malaysia in 2008 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. BCA secretary Lele said, "Watmore has also been appointed as the coach and director of cricket for the Ranji Trophy team for two years."
Lele said that in the role of Director of Cricket, he would also advise coaches of the Australian age group (Under-23, Under-19 and Under-16).
