The global champion for gender equality, UN women annual summit will be going to take place in Davos from 16th January to 20th January, 2023. The annual meeting of world economic forum is going to take place from 16 to 20 January 2023.
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) data shows ‘it would another 286 years to close the global gender gap’. The world has still not being on the track to achieve gender equality by 2030 and almost 1 in 3 women’s have experienced physical or sexual violence at least once in their life. And 85% of fortune 500 CEO’s are men.
UN women said in a blog post on its website that its participation at world economic forum at Davos will be focused on the ‘generation equality’. The theme for this year conference is ‘Cooperation in a Fragmented World’, where UN women said it would spearhead conversation focusing upon the solutions which will help in advancing the gender equality.
The UN organisation for women rights, UN Women, delivers policies, programmes and standards that uphold women's human rights will be present at the World Economic Forum at Davos. Under the topic of ‘Generation Equality’, initiative to accelerate the investment and implementation on gender equality, UN Women will spread solutions focusing upon the conversations with leaders from cross governments, business and civil society organizations.
Anita Bhatia, UN women deputy executive director, and Roshni Nadar, chairperson of the HCL tech will be starting this year's UN women chapter from January 16th. UN Women’s He-For-She Champions, HCL, and DP World through a series of panel discussions, fireside chats, daily video check-ins, and social media highlights will start the event. UN Women will center the theme on gender equality and asking every corporation to join global efforts in achieving the gender equality by making new or expanding existing commitments.
The program will be kick-starting from 16th January, Monday starting with ‘Climate and Gender: A Connected Crisis’ where Deputy Executive Director Anita Bhatia starts off with a fireside chat o how gender equality and climate crisis are rooted and connected. Following on 17th January, Tuesday talking about the ‘Activating Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality’ where HCL Tech with high-level panelist who will revisit the gendered impacts of innovation and technology, and bring together government representatives, experts, and business leaders in conversation on solutions. With also focuses on ‘Securing Economic Justice for Women’ and ‘He-For-She: The Importance of Male Ally ship’.
On the last day 18th of January, Wednesday with focusing on the ‘Eliminating Gender-Based Violence through Multi-stakeholder Action’ in partnership with He-for-She Champion HCL Tech. The panel will focus on the best practices and measures to address violence against women, including online violence and the risk factors brought on by our increasingly digitalized world.
