New Delhi: Cancer disease is increasing worldwide including India for the last few years. Along with medical measures for its prevention, social and economic analysis is also needed. If the figures are taken into consideration, then the number of heart patients has increased by 50 percent in the last 25 years and the number of people who have been exposed to cancer every year is going to double almost in the coming 20 years.

According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2016, about 1.1 million people were exposed to cancer every year. By the year 2040, their number is expected to reach 20 lakhs. According to one study, the risk of death from cancer before the age of 75 is 7.34% in men and 6.28% in women. Statistics show that male-centric cancer cases are increasing steadily. The total number of cancer deaths in the year 2018 was 7,84,821, out of which 4,13,519 males and 3,71,302 females.

Dr. Abhishek Shankar, Assistant Professor (Preventive Oncology) at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, says that the image of men has been made so strong in a large section of society that society is not comfortable about their problems. He is considered weak on expressing his pain. This is the reason why male-centric cancers do not become the subject of special discussion.
