New Delhi: Today is World Literacy Day. 52nd World Literacy Day is being celebrated worldwide. As such, the literacy rate in India is still low. At present, a large population is illiterate. According to statistics, there are 28 crore uneducated people in the country. According to UNESCO's Global Education Monitoring Report, India will be able to achieve the global target of primary education in 2050, secondary education in 2060 and higher secondary education in 2085. If we independently assess the current literacy rate, then the situation is slightly better.

Since independence, the literacy graph in the country has increased by 57 percent, but in spite of this, we are quite backward globally. According to the 2011 census, Kerala (93.91%) is the most literate state in India. While this rate is 63.82 percent in Bihar and Telangana has a rate of 66.50 percent. This is followed by Lakshadweep (92.28%), Mizoram (91.58%), Tripura (87.75%) and Goa (87.40%).

Bihar and Telangana are the two states with the lowest literacy rates. According to one information, India's literacy rate is very low at 84% of the world's literacy rate. However, meaningful steps have been taken in this direction through the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Saakshar Bharat launched in the country. According to the 2011 census, the literacy rate in India is 75.06%. The literacy rate in the country was extremely low during independence. At that time there was only 18 percent literacy rate. However, it is slowly improving.
