The day of October 5 is celebrated as World Teachers' Day in more than 100 countries of the world. It was announced by UNESCO in the year 1994. The purpose of this event is to raise public support in favour of teachers and ensure that teachers continue to meet the needs of generations to come by encouraging them.

The theme of this year's World Teachers Day 2017 is, "Empowering teachers to teach with freedom so that every child and youth has the opportunity to learn freely." (Empower teachers to teach in freedom so that, every child & adult is free to learn.) The main purpose of this day is to underline the importance of teachers in the life of a student.
