New Delhi: India has joined those countries on Wednesday where the world's cleanest petrol and diesel are used. The oil companies of the country started supply of Euro-six standard petrol and diesel from Wednesday without any increase in price and without any hindrance in services. The supply of this high-grade fuel will help greatly in reducing pollution of vehicles in the country, especially in metros.

In the country, instead of Bharat Stage-four grade fuel, Bharat Stage-six grade fuel will be available directly. It is similar to Euro six grade fuel. This should have increased the price by one rupee a litre, but the oil companies have started giving this clean fuel without increasing the price. The price increase will be adjusted in the international market where crude oil prices have reached a low of 17 years.

Sanjeev Singh, chairman of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the country's largest company supplying petroleum products, has said that today we are supplying 100 per cent BS-6 petrol and diesel. Clean fuel is being sold at all its 68,700 petrol pumps in the country from today. He said that no change has been made in the retail price of fuel due to this change. The price of petrol and diesel in the country was last changed on 16 March. Since then, the price of one litre of petrol in Delhi is Rs. 69.59 and the price of diesel are Rs. 62.29 per litre.
