London, UK: In a historic gathering, the United Kingdom welcomes the world's first-ever Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Safety Summit, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of AI technology. British Technology Secretary, Michelle Donelan, has called for a united front in addressing the burgeoning risks associated with AI.

Representatives from across the globe, including Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar from India, have assembled for the two-day summit commencing on November 1 at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire, a site steeped in the history of computer science development, known for its role in World War II code-breaking operations.

Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar expressed his anticipation for meaningful discussions at the summit, emphasizing the potential of AI to transform citizens' lives and stimulate the digital economy, all while maintaining safety and trust in the digital realm.

This landmark event serves as a platform for governments, academia, and AI industry leaders to engage in dialogue, identify risks, explore opportunities, and underscore the imperative for international collaboration in the realm of AI. A statement from the British High Commission underscores the importance of finding consensus on the scope, significance, and urgency of AI opportunities.

Notable countries such as the United States, France, Singapore, Italy, Japan, and China are among those who have confirmed their presence at the Bletchley Park Summit.

Prominent tech figure Elon Musk is a high-profile attendee, and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a live interview with Musk during the summit.

The guest list also includes Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The summit's inauguration will be marked by UK Technology Secretary Michelle Donelan, who will outline the UK government's vision for prioritizing safety and security in AI advancements. The aim is to harness the vast opportunities AI offers while mitigating potential risks.

The summit's first day will bring together a select group of AI companies, civil society representatives, and independent experts. The focus will be on realizing the public benefits of AI technology while addressing the associated risks.

The summit's agenda underscores the transformative potential of AI, particularly in education and areas ripe for international research collaborations. Notable organizations like The Alan Turing Institute, The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Ada Lovelace Institute will be in attendance.

Prime Minister Sunak has emphasized that the summit will delve into critical issues, including potential threats to national security and the loss of control over technology.

Crucial discussions will address concerns such as election disruption and the erosion of social trust.

The UK has already made significant strides in the AI sector, employing over 50,000 individuals and contributing £3.7 billion to its economy annually, according to government estimates.

Michelle Donelan will be joined by members of the UK's Frontier AI Taskforce, led by Chair Ian Hogarth. The task force, established earlier this year, aims to assess the risks associated with frontier AI models, including generative language models.

During the summit's first day, Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar will participate in discussions on "Frontier AI risks," focusing on "Risks to Global Safety from Frontier AI Misuse." These discussions will delve into the safety implications of recent and next-generation frontier AI models, including their potential impact on biosecurity and cybersecurity.

On the second day of the summit, Chandrasekhar will contribute to discussions on establishing a collaborative framework for AI among like-minded nations. He will shed light on India's perspective regarding AI risks, particularly in areas such as disinformation and electoral security.
