On Friday, China's meteorological authority issued a yellow alert for cold waves, predicting low temperatures and gales across the country. Temperatures in various parts of the north, central, east, and south China are predicted to drop by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius from Friday to Sunday, according to the National Meteorological Center.

According to the prediction, temperatures might plummet by more than 14 degrees Celsius in certain locations. From Friday through Sunday, snow and sleet are predicted in portions of north, central, and south China, with heavy rainfall and rainstorms expected in sections of south China's Hainan Province, according to the centre.

China has a four-tiered, colour-coded weather warning system, with red indicating the most severe weather and orange, yellow, and blue indicating less severe weather.
