Lucknow: Government employees of any department in Uttar Pradesh will no longer be able to go on strike. The Yogi government has enacted the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) for 6 months. Government employees are now forbidden to go on strike for at least 6 months after esma was installed. State that the government has enacted ESMA under the Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1966. The governor has also approved it.

Under this, the strike has been banned in all public services, authorities, government departments including corporations under the Yogi Adityanath government in UP. Additional Chief Secretary Personnel has also issued an order in this regard. Tell me, earlier last year also the government had implemented ESMA. The government implements government work so that there is no hindrance in government work. It may be recalled that ESMA is an Act passed by the Indian Parliament, which was enacted in 1968.

These laws were enacted to prevent employee sstrike in times of crisis. The law can be imposed by a state government or central government for a maximum of six months. If employees go on strike after the law comes into force, their move falls under the category of illegal and punishable. Any employee who strikes in violation of ESMA law can be arrested without a warrant.
