Yogi govt gifting breastfeeding rooms at Bus stops of UP

Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has given a special gift to women. In view of the difficulties in breastfeeding children in public places, the state government has decided to set up breastfeeding rooms at bus stations in the state. The state government has also allocated a budget for the same.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department, 219 bus bases will be equipped with facilities related to mothers and infants by November. The scope of these facilities includes the construction of the breastfeeding room. A breastfeeding room will be constructed at every bus base. The Transport Department has also allocated a budget of Rs 2.5 crore for the scheme. According to the department, the budget has also been allocated to the offices of the respective bus bases.

According to information, a total of 242 bus stations are currently operating in Uttar Pradesh. Out of these, 23 bus bases have been developed as Private Public Partnership (PPP) models. The 23 bus bases in the state developed on PPP model will also be equipped with maternity and child facilities. Along with this, breastfeeding rooms will also be built at all bus bases.
