Lucknow: The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has launched the 'Parali Do-Khad Lo' scheme to curb pollution. Through this scheme, the UP government will take stubble from farmers and instead they will be given manure. The stubble collected from the farmers will be used as fodder in the goshalas. Manure will also be made from the remaining stubble. The UP government's plan could be a relief in view of the controversy over stubble and the damage caused to the environment by burning it.

Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Dr Devesh Chaturvedi has written to all DMs in this regard. He has issued an order to take the help of gaushalas operating in the district to prevent and proper use of crop residue and stubble from burning by farmers. Manure made from protected bovine dung should be replaced with stubble. The farmers who were given manure in lieu of stubble will also be fully informed. The gram Samiti will be entrusted with the responsibility. Following this order, the district administration has started working on it.

CDO Ishaan Pratap Singh, who works on the scheme in the Shravasti district, says 77 tonnes of stubble has been taken from farmers in the district so far. All the 38 gaushalas in the district are being connected to it. All the farmers who are contacting us are being given the benefit of this scheme. 1 tonne of manure is being given in lieu of 5 tonnes of stubble. Similarly, stubble management will be carried out in all districts which may have some modifications locally.
