Kuala Lumpur: The troubles of the controversial Islamic religious leader Zakir Naik in Malaysia are on the rise. The fugitive Zakir Naik has since apologised for his statement against non-Muslims. Zakir Naik said in a statement that he is not racist and his remarks have been distorted.

Zakir Naik has issued a statement describing himself as a peacekeeper. Zakir Naik said in his statement, "I believe in peace because the Quran is based on this. My aim is to spread peace all over the world. But, unfortunately, I also have to face critics who prevent me from completing my mission. For a few days, I have been accused of racial remark and my opponents have been using certain words to manipulate them."

It is worth mentioning here that on August 3 in Malaysia, Zakir Naik made an objectionable speech against Hindus and ethnic Chinese from Malaysia. Zakir Naik was summoned for questioning again on Monday, where he was questioned for 10 hours. Following Naik's statement against minorities, 115 police reports have been filed against him in Malaysia.
