The Supreme Court on 31 January will hear all the petitions filed in matter of bull taming sport Jallikattu. The Bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra declared the date of hearing.

On November 16, 2016 the court rejected the petition of Tamil Nadu government which was filed in seeking the review on ban of bulls in Jallikattu events. The plea was rejected by the bench headed by Dipak Misra including Justice Rohinton Fali Nairman.

On January 23, the Tamil Nadu Assembly passed the Jallikattu bill and on January 21 the ordinance was approved by the Tamil Nadu Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao which was issued by the State Government.
