Gaganayaan budget should be increased: Parliamentary Committee

A standing committee of the Indian Parliament has objected to the low budget allocation for Gaganyaan. He has said that Gaganyaan is a very important national effort as well as has global importance. However, its importance for the year 2020-21 is not reflected in the budget released under the support of Gaganyaan.

For your information, let us tell you that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forest and Climate Change presented its report in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. In it, he said that under Revised Estimate (RE), the budget of Gaganyaan should be increased by Rs 3,000 crore. The Department of Space had demanded Rs 4,256.78 crore from the government in the budget of 2020-21 for realizing the Gaganyaan program.

In order to establish its presence in space, only Rs 1,200 crore has been allocated in this relative budget. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has named its manned space mission Gaganyaan. Under this, by the year 2022, three Indians have to be sent to space and bring them back safely.
