ACB arrested Medak Additional Collector and five others for demanding 1.12 crore bribe

The Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) of Telangana is solving one of the biggest corruption cases of the state. In the same context, the ACB has arrested Gaddam Nagesh, Additional Collector (Revenue), Medak, and five others on Wednesday for asking and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.12 crore to issue a no-objection certificate (NOC) for 112 acres of land at Chippalaturthi village of Narsapur Mandal.

The person who was asked for money, K Linga Murthy, a resident of Sherilingampally, approached the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officers and informed that he had already paid Rs 40 lakh in cash and a deal was struck as they asked for five acres of land worth Rs 72 lakh. Following the complaint, the ACB officials, led by Suryanarayana carried out a raid at Nagesh’s residence at Machavaram in Medak on  Wednesday morning.

As several revenue officials were involved in the case, the ACB officials conducted raids at 12 locations in Medak district and other places. Apart from the Additional Collector, Aruna Reddy, Abdul Sattar, Mohd Waseem and Jeevan Goud were also arrested. During the search operation, the ACB officials discovered Rs 28 lakh in cash and half a kg of gold embellishments from Aruna Reddy’s residence at Chowdariguda under the Ghatkesar Police Station in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. The officials were also conducting a search operation at his residence in Narsapur.
