Raipur: 12 castes of Chhattisgarh will be included in the Scheduled Tribe. This has been approved in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi. On February 11, 2021, CM Bhupesh Baghel sent a letter to PM Modi urging him to include 12 castes of Chhattisgarh in scheduled tribes. After these caste communities are included in the list of Scheduled Tribes of Chhattisgarh, they will now get the benefit of the schemes run for the Scheduled Tribes of the government. Scholarship, concessional loans, and hostels for scheduled tribes boys and girls will also get the benefit of reservation in government service and educational institutions.

The Union Cabinet allowed 12 communities of Chhattisgarh to be included in the Scheduled Tribe. The 17 OBC sub-castes that were added to the SC list are Kahar, Kashyap, Kevat, Mallah, Nishad, Kumhar, Prajapati, Dheevar, Bind, Bhar, Rajbhar, Dhimar, Batham, Turha, Godia, Manjhi and Machhua.

CM Bhupesh Baghel said that he had sent a letter to the PM and appealed to include various castes of Chhattisgarh in the Scheduled Tribe. The Union Cabinet has approved the inclusion of 12 caste communities of Chhattisgarh in the Scheduled Tribes. Congratulations to the people and thanks to the Prime Minister. Explain that after the approval of the Union Cabinet, the number of Scheduled Tribes will increase by more than 75 thousand. Due to the non-inclusion of names in scheduled tribes, people of this class were being deprived of the benefits of government schemes. Now they will get the benefit of government schemes.
