12 suspected patients admitted to hospital after Karnataka, 'Omicron' overshadows Delhi

New Delhi: The new Omicron variant of corona infection has created panic all over the world, meanwhile a total of 12 persons who have returned from foreign travel so far have been admitted to LNJP Hospital in Delhi. Today 4 new cases were reported. Till yesterday, this number was 8 on Thursday. Today out of 4 new patients, 2 RTPCR reports are positive and two have symptoms of corona. Both of these are being investigated. All 4 samples will be sent for genome sequencing. The last 8 samples have already been sent for genome sequencing. Of the 4 suspects found today, 2 are from the UK, 1 from France and 1 from the Netherlands.

The same Delhi Health Department has designated Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) as a dedicated facility for treatment of patients found infected with the new omicron sine of corona. The hospital has been identified as a ward for quarantine and treatment of such patients.

The department also said that no patient with a new form of corona infection will be denied admission to hospitals on any basis. The omicron form of corona infection is considered very contagious and fatal. The World Health Organization has also expressed concern over it. The Central government on Thursday said that two cases of omicron, the new form of corona infection, have been reported in Karnataka. He also appealed to the people not to panic and to follow the corona guidelines and get vaccinated without delay.
