Palghar: The Crime Branch of Maharashtra CID has arrested 19 more people in connection with the beating of two saints and their car driver by mobs in the Palghar district in April, one of whom is 70 years old. An official informed about the this on Wednesday. The official said, apart from these, police have also arrested five minors in connection with the April 16 incident.

He said that one of those arrested includes an M.Tech degree holder and a manager of a reputed company. The official said that so far, 248 accused have been killed in the case of mob violence, out of which 105 have been granted bail.  Recently, a Thane court granted bail to 47 people arrested in the Palghar mob murder case.

District Judge PP Jadhav had ordered that the accused be released on a bail amount of fifteen thousand rupees. Earlier, four accused were granted bail in the case. A mob in Gadchiroli in Palghar district of Maharashtra had beaten two sadhus Maharaj Kalksha Kalpana Giri, Sushilgiri Maharaj and his driver Nilesh Telgade to death from Behrami on April 16, 2020. The CID (Crime) of Maharashtra Police has filed a charge sheet in the case.
