New Delhi: Recently, more than 200 academics, including Vice Chancellors of Universities, wrote a letter to PM Modi on Sunday, blaming the activities of a small group of leftist activists for the deteriorating academic environment in the country. At the same time, the letter written to the PM said, 'We believe that in the name of student politics, a destructive radical leftist agenda is being carried forward. The recent incidents on campuses from JNU to Jamia, AMU to Jadavpur University, alert us to the worsening academic environment due to the mischief of a small group of leftist activists.

It has been learned that those who signed the letter included Hari Singh Gaur, RP Tiwari, South Bihar Central HCS Rathore and Shirish Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University. At the same time it is also being said that it has been given the title 'Statement against Left Wing Anarchy in Educational Institutions'.

Sources say that the groups leaning towards the Left have been taking it hard to say that due to the censorship imposed by leftist politics, it has become difficult to organize mass dialogues or speak freely. Strike, picket and bandh have become common in the strongholds of the Left. Targeting people personally, public sabotage and harassment is increasing if the left ideology is not in conformity. The worst kind of politics is affecting the students of poor and marginalized communities.
